Do you sing in the shower or in the car and think you deserve a better audience than your shampoo bottle or your kids? Come audition for Tulsa Sings!. The vocal talent competition embedded with Signature Symphony at TCC has returned for 2022-2023 season. Finalists are selected to work with New York City-based vocalist and concert performer, Scott Coulter, and perform on stage with the professional orchestra.

The finalists will be part of the Tulsa Sings! American Jukebox” concert on Saturday, April 8, 2023, celebrating the biggest American hits of the past half-century.

“This is one of the most incredible opportunities to shine the spotlight on local talent,” said Scott Seaton, Signature Symphony artistic director. “We want to be a musical conduit for our community, and I can’t think of a better way but to invite members to the stage to sing alongside our world-class musicians and Scott Coulter, one of New York’s most honored vocalists.”

Previous Tulsa Sings! finalists say the audition and selection process is a priceless experience for any performer. The competition provides valuable exposure to coaching and mentoring by Coulter. He works with each finalist to help elevate their performance. They learn valuable vocal techniques and artistic expression to help expand their performance range.

“This now-annual Signature Symphony tradition has become one of the highlights of the year for me,” said Coulter. “Since we started the competition in 2018, Tulsa Sings! has become not only a great resource for recognizing and celebrating Tulsa talent but a wonderful way to grow the musical family of the Tulsa community. It’s always one of the most special experiences of my year.”

The audition process for Tulsa Sings! begins by completing an online entry form and submitting an audition video. There are callback rounds and rehearsals leading up to the performance. Anyone can audition who has a connection to Tulsa as a current or past resident.

The Tulsa Sings! grand prize winner is selected by a panel of judges and given the opportunity to be the featured or guest vocalists in a future Signature Symphony concert. The Tulsa Sings! audience favorite is determined by audience votes and invited to perform at a future Signature Symphony concert.

Previous Tulsa Sings! winners have returned to the Signature Symphony stage for the annual “Christmas in Tulsa” and “4th on the 3rd” concerts, as well as performed alongside LaKisha Jones, a finalist from the sixth season of “American Idol”.
