The magic of the holiday season comes to life with Signature Symphony at TCC’s annual holiday tradition, “Christmas in Tulsa.” The concert is at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16 and Saturday, Dec. 17 at the VanTrease Performing Arts Center for Education on the TCC Southeast Campus.
Designed to be a fun event for the entire family, Signature Symphony and Tulsa Opera Signature Chorale will perform holiday favorites.
“This is one of the most special concerts of the year where we get to experience holiday magic through the familiar themes that we crave all year long,” says Artistic Director Scott Seaton. “From the magical storytelling of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas,’ to the sounds of Hanukkah, to singing all your favorite holiday songs at the top of your lungs, this concert promises to bring us all together.”
The concert will feature musical selections such as Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Carol of the Bells, and Christmas in Tulsa. The orchestra will also play “A Musicological Journey Through the Twelve Days of Christmas,” which takes the audience through the 12 days in a different musical style for each one such as Mozart, Sousa, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi, and Wagner. Finally, the evening concludes with a holiday sing-along.
For families wanting to get a behind the scenes look, you are invited to attend the Free Open Rehearsals. This program is held Thursday, Dec. 15 from 6:30 – 8 p.m. at the VanTrease PACE on the Southeast Campus. The free event is great for families and children of all ages to get to know our conductor and musicians through a short Q&A and to see the elements that go into a professional orchestra’s concert.
