Adapting to the pandemic and finding a way forward, Signature Symphony at TCC announces, “Overture Outdoors.” The professional orchestra moves its annual fundraiser to a more casual format this year and a series of outdoor events throughout Tulsa on April 23, April 29, and May 8. Each event begins at 6 p.m.

“Signature Symphony is planning three different evenings where we can experience live music while maintaining smaller groups and enjoying an intimate setting with distance. Each evening offers a different music style and view of our city,” said Jaime Smith, 2021 Overture committee chair.

“Overture Outdoors” begins Friday, April 23, with a reception with wine, soft drinks and appetizers at TCC Southeast Campus Student Activities Patio prior to Signature Symphony’s “A New Beginning” concert at Union Tuttle Stadium. Then, guests will relax and unwind, Thursday, April 29, with an evening at Tulsa Zoo’s Lost Kingdom, featuring cocktails, appetizers and live music provided by “Something Steel,” featuring a blend of steel drum sounds, guitars, percussion and vocals. Finally, top off your “Overture Outdoors” experience with a socially-distant toast to music and music education, Saturday, May 8, at DoubleTree Warren Place Garden Patio. Cocktails and heavy hors d’oeuvre will be served with the evening’s music provided by the Signature Quartet and the Mosaic Trio. Rain dates have been scheduled for each event in case of weather.

The series of outdoor concerts allow guests to gather safely and enjoy music and friendship while following health guidelines. Admission to all three “Overture Outdoors” events as well as premium seating and reserved parking for Signature Symphony’s “A New Beginning” concert at Union Tuttle Stadium on Friday, April 23 at 8 p.m. is included with an Overture ticket or Overture sponsorship.

“During the past 14 months, Signature Symphony at TCC has continued to present outdoor performances, virtual concerts, and other music education programs to the Tulsa community, no matter the venue. That ongoing is supported by this annual fundraiser to help sustain and create opportunities for performances, education programs, and community enrichment,” said Smith.

“Overture Outdoors” will also have an online auction as part of the annual fundraiser to complement these in-person events. TTCU is the presenting sponsor for "Overture Outdoors," with additional support provided by Security Bank.
