Taking its title and inspiration from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Silmarillion, which describes the “Great Battle” between the elves and Morgoth, this work for horn, percussion, and electronic tape will be performed by Signature Symphony musicians, Joseph Falvey and Jim Clanton. Be transported into a musical representation of Tolkien’s imaginative and creative world. From Middle Earth, travel to the Americas with Jim Clanton as he performs Taloa‘ Hiloha (Thunder Song) for Solo Timpani by Native American composer Jerod Impichchaachaaha‘ Tate. This concert will also feature Signature Symphony Concertmaster Maureen O’Boyle performing solo violin pieces by J.S. Bach and Grazyna Bacewicz.
